THE KING AND QUEEN.
SURPRISE VISIT TO STEAMER. (Per Press Association). AUCKLAND, November 14. The interest taken liy the King and Queen in the officers and men of the British Mei’cantile Alarine, particularly during the Avar, Avas demonstrated at one of the London docks recently. Shortly before a liner engaged in the NeAV Zealand trade put to sea the King and Queen paid a surprise and informal A r isit to the vessel. The liner is at present in NeAV Zealand waters, The King and Queen boarded the Royal barge up the Thames, and had lunch at the docks. As they walked along the dockside to the NeAV Zealand vessel Their Majesties were cheered by dock workers. They boarded the vessel, and were introduced to the captain Then, for .about 10 minutes, the King and Queen Avalked about the liner, conA r ersing Avith the officers and men. Their Majesties Avere again cheered as they left the vessel. From it they Avent to another A'essel, a grain ship, Vhich had just arrived in dock from overseas. There was another surprise and informal inspection.
