BOWLING.
THE ASHBURTON CLUB. There was a large attendance at the Ashburton Bowling Club’s greens on Saturday afternoon. The whole green was in use. The first round of the club rink games was played, resulting in wins for Cameron, Dunn and Higgins and-losses for Milsom, Moods and Oakley. The north-west wind made play .very tricky and all. of the games were one-sided. The second round will be played next Saturday, when Milsom will meet Cockroft. Woods will meet Cameron and Oakley will meet Dunn. Higgins will have the bye. The third round is sot down for November 25, but no date has been fixed for the remaining rounds. This will depend on the Saturdays available. Skips' may, if they wish, arrange to play any of their games any evening prior to the date drawn. The draws for all the club competitions have been posted on the notice board and although a. liberal time allowance has been fixed for each round members are urged to play their games as early as possible to avoid congestion, as the time limit will be strictly adhered to. , Tho lower green has just been lightly top-dressed and should be ready for use in two or three weeks. The president >(Mr E. A. Cockroft) will play in a. representative match, Canterbury v. South Canterbury, for the Steans Cup at Timaru on December 2. The annual match, Town v. Country, will be played on the town greens on December 2. Ashburton* will probably send six rinks.
