MOST INTENSE ACTIVITY. FRENCH CAPTURE PILLBOXES. ARTILLERY HAMMERING. (Received This Day, 10.55 a.m.) NEW YORK, September 7. A message from Paris states that artillery duels and localised operations are developing rapidly on the FrancoGerman front, mainly in the 12-mile-wide zone between the permanent fortifications. There is most intense activity in the Carlsbrunn Forest, betw'cen Saarlnutern and Saarbrucken. The French are reported to have captured several ranges of pillboxes, and their artillery is hammering at the Saarbrucken-Saarlautern road and railway. PROGRESS BY THE FRENCH. (Received This Day, 9.45 a.m.) PARIS, September 7. The French have reached Biemvakl Forest, north of Laut&rbourg. BOMBED BY THE FRENCH. GERMAN INDUSTRIAL AREAS. (Received This 'Day, 11.0 a.m.) ROME, September 7. Newspapers carry reports from Brussels stating that French planes bombed the industrial areas of Germany near the Belgian frontier. GERMAN REINFORCEMENTS. RUSHED TO NORTHERN FLANK. (Received This Day, 12.35 p.m.) NEW YORK, September 7. The Paris correspondent ,of, the Unit; ed Press of America reports that communique states that German : reinforcements have been rushed to the northr ern flank of the western front, where an increasing attack by the French has carried fighting to the fringe of the ISaar Basin.
