CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Grain and produce markets in Canterbury have been having a very dull time. Very few potatoes have been offering and the demand from the North Island has been negligible. Quotations, which are only nominal, vary between £l4 and £l6. Onions 1 remain very firm. Only a small quantity of the local crop is left with growers and the quotation is .still £lB. The September increment of Kl a bushel went on wheat vesterday and the ■ new prices are: —Tuscan 5s lid, Hunters 6s id, and Pearl 6s 3d. The following quotations are to farmers on trucks at country sidings, unless otherwise indicated: — Wheat—Milling, f.0.b,, Tuscan 5s lid • Hunters 6s Id; Pearl, 6s 3d. (Final payment of 3d a bushel on all wheat at the end of year.) Oats —A Gartons 2s 7d to 2s Bd, B Gartons 2s 4d, Algerians 3s to 3s 6tl, Duns 3s 6d to 4s 6d. LONDON MEAT MARKET. PRODUCERS’ BOARD’S REPORT. Wellington; September 1. . The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board’s report on the Smithfield market covering the period ended August 31, states that the prime quality lamb is firm, with a slight improvement in some grades. Second quality is a shade easier, owing to heavier supplies. Wethers and ewes are very firm at advanced prices, owing to light stocks in store and afloat. Frozen beef is firmer, on better prices. Chilled beef prices are better this week, owing to lighter supplies and good demand. .The New Zealand porker pig market is quiet but firm, and baconer pigs are quiet and unchanged.
