ATTACK AT FIVE POINTS. BOMBING OF SEVERAL TOWNS, EXTREME! VIOLENCE OF ACTION, LONDON, September 1; The Paris correspondent of the United Press of America states that the Polish Embassy . announced that Germany invaded Poland at four points. Military, circles in Warsaw report that the fighting began at Danzig and there was apparently general fighting on most parts of the frontier. Reuter’s Paris correspondent reports that the Germans have begun the offensive with extreme violence on the whole Polish front. The Warsaw correspondent of the United Press' of America says that the Germans bombed Warsaw at 9 a.m. They also bombed railway stations at three Polish towns. The Warsaw correspondent of the Associated Press of America states that it is reported in Warsaw that Krakow, Katowice, Tczew', and Czestochowa were bombed by German aeroplanes early this morning. Fighting is reported at Danzig. Warsaw was awakened at 6.20 a.m. bysirens. Air raids were awaited. In Warsaw a Polish Foreign Office spokesman stated : The Germans started military action shortly after 7 a.m. at different points of the frontier. This is undoubtedly German aggression against Poland. Military action is now developing. The spokesman was unable to state exactly where the hostilities were occurring. The Warsaw correspondent of the British United Press says it is authoritatively learned that the. first German j raids began at 4.30 a.m. at five unsped-1 fied points. The attacking squadrons 1 mere apparently not large and the extent of the damage is not known. Residents of Gleiwitz, in Silesia, reported artillery fire in the distance at 5.30 a.m. . It is officially stated in Warsaw that the Germans bombed the railway station at Tczew and the town of Rypnic, and also the town of Putzk nearby.
