WOMEN’S DIVISION.
ANAMA BIRTHDAY PARTY. The, birthday party of the Anama branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held recently. Mrs R. Hewson, who presided, gave a report of the executive meeting held in Ashburton. It was decided to enter a bay in the Ashburton Women’s Institute flower show this month. Vocal solos were given by 3le,sdames J. Quantook and 31cLean. The birthday cake was made by Mrs R. Hewson. The four candles were lit by Mesdames R. Asclien (Mayfield Women’s Division), Shaw (Westerlicld Women’s Division), A. Rushton (3layfield Women’s Institute), and Barnsgrove (Staveley Women’s Institute), and were blown out by Miss Phyllis Watson, secretary of the Westerfiekl branch of the division. 3lrs E. 31. Begg. of Wakanui, cut the cake. 3lrs Begg gave a short outline of the housekeeping scheme. Humorous competitions were won by 3lisses Jean Rose and Grace Hewson. The monthly competitions resulted as follows: —Article; Mrs Candy 1, Mrs Bennett 2, 31iss Linda Robertson 3. Carrots; 31 rs Candy 1, Airs W. J. Robertson 2. Flowers: Mrs McKenzie 1, Mrs Hewson 2. The hostesses were Mesdames McLean, Teller, Clark, and 3liss Jean Ivev.
