NO POSTPONEMENT.
THE CENTENNIAL EXHIBITION. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, August 31. Whether the. coming weeks bring peace or war the Centennial Exhibition will still take place. This decision, reached bv the’exhibition directors and approved by the Cabinet, was announced to-day by the chairman, 3lr T. C.. A. Hislop. He said that the exhibition, was practically ready, that it was essential that in wartime national activities should be disrupted as little as possible, and that the whole purpose of the exhibition in inspiring a national feeling of pride and patriotism was of even greater importance in war than in peace. Asked if any modifications would have to be made, Mr Hislop replied that there was a possibility that the Welsh Guards; Band might not be permitted to come to the exhibition in the event of a war. In that case arrangements would lie made to secure the services of another really outstanding hand. The question need not ho discussed until it actually arose. He did not think there would be any other alterations of importance.
