THE ASHBURTON COMPETITIONS.
EASY WIN FOR THISTLE. The feature of the Ashburton Men’s Hockey Competitions, which were continued on 'Saturday, Avas Thistle’s easy win over Ashburton. Rokeby, , with two teams taking part, showed greatly improved form.
SENIOR GRADE.
THISTLE v. ASHBURTON
Speedy play by the Thistle forwards was the chief reason for their easy win by nine points to tAVo, over Ashburton. Ashburton, playing tAVo men short for the greater part of. the game, were unable to put up a confident stand against the winners. The scorers foi Thistle Avere I. Stevenson (6),’H. Harper, S. Watson and S'. ivicElhinney. S. Rodgers and L. Lees scored for Ashburton.
WAKANUI v ROKEBY A
As the score of three goals to nil in favour of Wakanui indicated, the match between Wakanui and Rokeby A Avas fairly evenly contested. Rokeby have shown great improvement, and should Avin matches before the season is over. A. Anderson scored Wakanni’s three goals.
BARING SQUARE v. ROKEBY
Raring Square beat Rokehy B by seven goals to one. The winner s scores were shot by C. Moody (2), A. Loach (2), M. Penman, N. Hopkins, and K. McFarlarie. G. Copland scored for Rokeby.
JUNIOR GRADE.
Ashburton beat St. Andrew’s Roys Brigades by one goal to nil, the goal being scored by A. Dobson.
