Mi- Walter Nash, interviewed by the “Daily Telegraph/’ said he was confident that the loan of £17,000,000 will be satisfactorily arranged. Ho added that sterling will be available to pay for imports from Britain. He is exploring the possibilities of a defence •loan. The City Editor of the “Daily Mail’’ say's that Mr Nash aims at a defence loan of £6,000,000, and a loan of £10,000,000 in order to establish secondary industries. The writer adds . that an 'error for which the present j Government is not blameworthy was / the fixing of the repayment of the loan of £17,000,000 for a single date, instead of two, say, 1940 and 1960, giving greater scope for conversion or renewal. Single dates for redemptions involving £73,000,000 are also fixed for 1940, 1944, 1946, 1947 and 1949. Two other loans, totalling £30,000,000, have optional dates.
