TWO children drowned. FALL IN POOL INI GARDENS. (Per Press Association). . DUNEDIN, March 23. A double drowning accident occurred in a pool in the Woodhaugh Gardens shortly after midday to-clay. The victims were:— Marion Joyce McKeagg,' aged 12, and her brother, Norman Earl McKeagg, aged nine and a half. Their parents live in Smith Street, Dunedin. The girl was standing on a rock beside the pool, about 15 feet deep, and on putting one foot in slipped and fell in. Her brother put out a hand to save her, but was pulled in. Both sank, rose again, and disappeared. It was not until some time after that the bodies were recovered by two men, who dived for them. Artificial respiration by two medical men was of no avail. A CRUSHED TOE. / Mr Eric Vaughan Gabites a surveyor, aged 21’, of Wills Street, Ashburton, employed by the Public Works Department, has been admitted to the Ashburton Public Hospital suffering a crushed toe. His condition is satisfactory. MAN ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL. Mr H. L. Murchie, a railway employee, suffered a broken bone in a shoulder in the accident which occurred yesterday between a jigger and a motor-lorry at Hepburn’s crossing in the Mount Somers branch line. Mi Murchie was admitted to the Ashburton Public Hospital. Mr G. F. Goodwin, who was also on the jigger, received minor- injuries auu was tfc'ken to the hospital, but was not admitted.
