THE WEATHER.
MISTY RAIN IN ASHBURTON. Clouds which banked rip over Ashburton last night promised a further fall of rail and this was fulfilled during the night and for the greater part of to-day, misty rain falling. There were intervals when it apear'ed the clouds would clear away, but in the middle of this afternoon the indications were for more rain. The fall in Ashburton for. the 24 hours ended at 9 a.fn. to-day amounted to only 12 points." The maximum temperature yesterday was 67.8 degrees and the minimum, in the night, was 50.2 degrees. The barometer stood at 30.08 inches this morning. TO-DAY'S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at -noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— General situation: A shallow depression has been crossing the Dominion and the trough now lies across the North Island, pressure having risen again in the south. The forecast tor the east- coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: — Light to moderate southerly winds. Weather cloudy to overcast with some scattered light showers or drizzle at first but improving. Temperatures cool to moderate. Seas slight.
