BULLET HITS WINDOW.

BELIEVED TO BE A RICOCHET. INCIDENT AT HIGH SCHOOL. A*.22 bullet, believed to be a ricochet, struck and broke a window in the Friedlander Hall at the Ashburton High School yesterday afternoon. When the piece of lead hit the glass its force was not sufficient to penetrate to the room, in which a class was at work. After breaking the glass it fell on to the gravel path below. It was flattened, leading to the theory that it had first encountered some object before striking the school building. The police were making inquiries into the incident to-day.
