BRITISH STEAMER STOPPED. (United Press Association —Copyright.) ' (Received This Day, 9.35 a.m.) LONDON, March 17. The Admiralty announced that a Spanish warship stopped the British Steamer Stangate inside Spanish territorial waters. WARSHIP FREES THE STANHOPE. RESPONSE TO SOS CALL. (Received This Day, 11.5 a.m.) LONDON, March 17. The warship Sussex radioed to the Admiralty that in response to an S O S, she went to the assistance of the freight steamer Stanhope, which was held up by an armed Spanish merchant ship outside territorial waters. She freed the Stanhope, which was on route to Gibraltar. A Barcelona message states that the Stangate, which is a sister-sliip to the Stanhope, is being taken to Palma.
