MR G. W. ANDREWS’S BIRTHDAY NATIVE OF NEW ZEALAND Born at Nelson. Mr George W. Andrews, of Chalmers Avenue, Ashburton, to-day celebrated his 90th. birthday, 'and was the recipient of many congratulatory telegrams. Active still, Mr Andrews rides a bicycle long distances about the town. He lias had a highly interesting career and has a lively memory of happenings in the early days of Nelson and Ashburton. He was for nearly 70 years an active tacher in the Methodist Sunday School, a record that has been claimed as a world record. He started teaching in a Sunday School when he was 17, then residing in Nelson and he started a Sunday School in Ashburton in 1875.
