ST. JAMES THEATRE “Green Light,’’ a fine dramatic film starring Errol Flynn and Anita Louise, will conclude its run at the St. Janies Theatre this evening. America’s most widely - 'publicised penitentiary, that’ “Big Rock’’ situated‘in the chill waters of San Francisco Bay, is brought to the motion picture screen for the first time in “Alcatraz Island,” a thrilling Cosmopolitan melodrama whicln Warner Bros, will present for its local premiejjp tomorrow. Grim hut fascinating is this story of men who live outside the law, and of the* men whose duty it is to apprehend and convict them. Every moment is loaded with thrills as this drama moves swiftly to an unexpected and exciting clijnax. John Litel is featured as a racketeer who is, despite his business, rather likeable. Income-tax evasion catches up with Litel just as it did with A 1 Capone and other real-life racketeers. Gordon Oliver, a Government attorney, procures his conviction. He is sent first to Leavenworth prison. There, in a fight with a lesser gangster, which is forced upon him, lie is pronounced incorrigible, and transferred to Alcatraz.

“Danger—Love at Work," with Ann Sothern and Jack Haley featurec], is the second enjoyable film on the programme. The third attraction is the first appearance in Ashburton of Charlie McCarthy, with whom is associated Mr Edgar Bergen in the comedy, “The Necking Baity.”

SUNDAY SCHOOL ENTERTAINED Members of the Baring Square Methodist Young Women’s Bible Class last evening entertained the Sunday School children at a party in the schoolroom. There was a large attendance and gaipes were played. Each child received a gift from 'Santa Claus and fruit salad and fruit were distributed. On behalf of the children the Sunday School Superintendent (Mr T. Wakelyn) thanked the Bible Class for the happy evening given to the children.
