WOMEN’S DIVISION.

COMPETITOR AT MAYFIELD. The monthly meeting or the Mayfield branch of the Women’s Division, of the Farmers’ Union was held on Thursday afternoon, Mrs J. D. Murdoch presiding. There was a good attendance and several visitors werte welcomed. Mesdames J. D. Murdoch and W. Turner were appointed to represent the Division at a meeting to make ■arrangements for the opening of the new swimming hath in the Domain. Members were in favour of holding the Country Women’s Educational Week either in May or early in August. <s It »vias decided to ask the A.C.E. tutor (Miss R. Robins) to give a demonstration at the May meeting. Members were asked to forward recipes to Mrs Gregory for publication in the new Household Guide. An invitation was received from the Ruapuna branch to its annual garden party in the Domain to-day. An interesting letter was read from Miss M. Buick, of Clent Hills, and an invitation for members to hold a. picnic at her home on January 5 was accepted. An ornament exchange was held, with several amusing competitions in a social half hour after afternoon tea was served. Mrs T. Taylor was the winner on points. Mrs Kingan and Miss Dorothea Kingan were thanked for preparing £he competitions. A rose show was held, with the following awards: —Champion rose. Mrs R. Oakley 1, Mrs J. D. Murdoch 2, Mrs W. Robertson 3; vase six roses, Mrs J. D. Murdoch 1, Mrs R. Oakley 2; vase three roses, Mrs J. D. Murdoch 1, Mrs W. Robertson 2, Mrs A. Turner 3; howl of roses, Mil's J. D. Murdoch 1, Mrs A. Turner 2. Mrs J. D. Murdoch was first and Mrs R. Oakley second for the points prizes donated by Mrs Taylor. The monthly competitions resulted: —Coconut ice. Mrs R>. Oakley 1. Mrs J. iD. Murdoch 2; ginger nuts, Mrs A. Murdoch 1 and 2, Mrs J. Buick 3; green peas, Mrs IL Oakley 1; lettuce, Mrs J. D. Murdoch 1 and 2, Mrs R. Oaklov 3; large bowl of flowers, Mrs J. D. Murdoch 1 ; bloom, Mrs A. Turner 1, Mrs J. D. Murdoch 2, Mrs R. Oakley 3. Mrs W. Ed is judged the competitions and Mesdames Rich. Taylor and Langdon were hostesses.
