A NARROW ESCAPE.

TRUCK STRUCK BY A TRAIN

ACCIDENT AT ,HINDS CROSSING. When qrossing the railway line at Hinds at 5.45 last evening, a motor’truck, ■ driven bv Mr Eric B. Withell. son of Mr H. C. B. Withell, of Ealing, was struck by the north-bound express. No one was injured. Mr Withell noticed the train when ho was nearly on the line, and realising it was too late to apply his brakes he endeavoured t-o g)2t across in front of the train, but the engine struck the hack of the vehicle. The truck was badly damaged and its contents, kerosene and grassseed, were strewn along the line.
