(Per Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day
Greyhound, the world champion American trotter, is unlikely to make the trip to New Zealand I'or a series of match races as officials' of the principal trotting clubs in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland do not view the project with the same enthusiasm as its sponsors, the local citizens’ committee. There is still a possibility that satisfactory arrangements may he made, but if an overseas visitor does come it is more likely to he the champion pacer Billy Direct . The committee of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club met to consider the matter last night and while no official statement lias been issued it is learned that a majority of the memehrs see many difficulties in the way of arranging a visit without incurring financial loss.
