DAVIS CUP COMPETITION.
NEW ZEALAND TO ENTER
WELLINGTON, This Day
A decision to enter a team for the Davis Cup competition was made at the quarterly meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Tennis Association. The chairman of the Management Committee (Mr A. G. Henderson) said that the Committee was of opinion that an entry should he made every year or two to k(eep New Zealand’s name on the tennis map overseas.
It was agreed to send a. youths’ team (under 21 years of age) to Australia to compete in the under-age tournament in Sydney. By 17,275 votes to 13,196 it was decided that three selectors be appointed to select New Zealand beams, in place of the present system of selection by the Management Committee of the Association.
