BAND OF HOPE.

CLOSING MEETING AT RAKAIA-. To close a successful season the I Lika ia Band of Hope held a social evening in the St. Mark’s Sunday School recently. The evening was organised by Misses Knid Saunders and Myra Croinie and the time was spent in games, competitions and the presentation of prizes. Mr S. Wilson, in honour of his approaching marriage, was presented with a small gift in appreciation of his work in the Band of Hope. .Miss M. Oakley was presented with a bouquet. A competition was won by Miss Kathleen Smith.

The prize-list was as follows: Special for most, temperance items during the year, Dawn Cromie 1, Errol Hardy 2; conduct, Theresa. Smith and Leslie Stevenson ; first-class, Fay Shannon, Keith Gibson, Allan Shannon, Deter Crosslo.v, riivllis Crosslo.v, Myra Hutt; secondclass. Kin lock Hutt, Effio Mead, Justine Mead, Mabel Mead and Nola Street.
