WATER FOR LONDON.

INCREASED STORAGE CAPACITY. HUGE RESERVOIRS UNDER WAY. (United Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, November 4. A reservoir that will cost £1,250,000 is under construction at Staines, for the Metropolitan Water Board, and is intended to add 44j000,000 gallons to the storage capacity of the Board as a safeguard in times of drought. The contractors are making good progress. Aided by most modern machinery, 1000 workmen are engaged in moving 7,000,000 tons of soil and forming a water-retaining wall of 680,000 tons of puddled clay. The area is 350 acres, with a circumference of miles.—British Official Wireless.
