ATHLETICS.
THE RAKAIA CLUB. The Rakaia Athletic and Cycling Club met in the Public Library, Rakaia, on Monday. Mr W. Shellock presided over a large attendance. The dancing judge and, piper were appointed. Mr A. N. Giiigg, M.P., and Mrs J. Cromie were elected vice-presidents. The secretary (Mr L. L. Street) reported that arrangements for the annual sports were proceeding. A larger number of local runners than usual appeared to lie in training and this year’s meeting promised to have record entries. It Avas decided to obtain a loud speaker apparatus for the use of the side show committee and for making announcements of times, calling up competitors, etc. The president reported on the state of the cycle track, which was consider-
