ESCAPED DROWNING.
ITALY’S GREATEST DRINKER. WINE FLOODS TINY CELLAR. ROME, October 17. Italy’s mightiest drinker narrowly escaped death by drowning in wine recently. Ho is Giovanni Birachi, aged 55, of Intra, near Lake Mnggoire. After having drunk all the wine in his kitchen, lie went into his tiny collar, where he lay down under a wine barrel, and turned on the tap. Becoming alarmed at bis long absence, bis family went,below. The wine was up to the ears of the blissfully unconscious Giovanni when his son dragged him away.
