LUNCH PRECEDES CONFERENCE.

MOTOR DRIVE IN AFTERNOON. HITLER ALONE IN FIRST CAR. (Received This Day, 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, September 29. A telegram from Munich states that Herr Hitler and Signor Mussolini, accompanied by members of their entourage were the first arrivals at Fuehrer House. Mr Chamberlain, accompanied by Herr von Ribbentrop drove up six minutes later and was saluted by a roll of drums. Then Marshal Goering arrived accompanied by M. Daladier.

The talks were preceded by a standup buffet lunch. Herr Hitler talked to M. Daladier, while Signor Mussolini conversed with Mr Chamberlain. After luneb tbe statesmen adjourned to the Fuehrer’s private study, being accompanied by Count Ciano, Herr von Ribbentrop, and M. Leger (Sec-retary-General of the Quai D’Or say). The four statesmen went motoring at 2.55 p.m. Herr Hitler was alone in the first car. Signor Mussolini and Herr Hess in the second, Count Ciano and Herr von Ribbentrop in the third, M. Daladier and Marshal Goering in the fourth and Mr Chamberlain and Sir Neville Henderson in the fifth. COMMUNIQUE SHORTLY. EVACUATION BY STAGES. (Received This Day, 12.10 p.m.) LONDON, September 29. Information made available to the foreign press at Munich states that it is reported that an official communique on the result of the conference will be released shortly after midnight. It is said it will contain provisions for evacuation by stages extending over seven to ten day begin•ning on Saturday. Evacuation of the Sucbeten territory by the Czechs is expected in single stages. There is widespread opinion that the Poles and Hungarians received territories without plebiscites.
