CZECH PREMIER’S FEARS.
IMPATIENCE OF HITLER. DEMAND FDD FULL AUTONOMY. LONDON, August 31. The Czech Prime Minister (Dr. Hoclza), informed the British Minister at Prague (Mr Basil Cochrane-Newton) that Czechoslovakia, expects Germany to resort to force “soon after October 1/5 if there is no settlement beforehand.” This belief is based in information gleaned by Czech secret agents. The suggestion is that Herr Hitler, angered by Czechoslovakia’s refusal to grant the Sudetens full autonomy, wants to settle the issue quickly—if necessary, by force. German generals are reported already to have had great difficulty! in restraining the Fuhrer from immediate action. Nothing less than home rule on the Irish pattern will now satisfy the German faction in Czechoslovakia. That statement is made in a bulletin issued to the Sudeten German press of the country by Herr Sebeliowski, publicity chief of the party led by Herr Henlein. The general view in Prague is that the Sudetens cannot reject the proposals out of hand, because it is felt that they will not act without first consulting the German Government.
