GOVERNOR OF FIJI.
SIR HARRY LUKE APPOINTED.

Sir Harry Charles Luke, Lieutenant Governor of Malta, has been appointed Governor of Fiji in succession to Sir Arthur Richards.
Sir Harry Charlie Luke, C.M.G., B.Litt., M.A., was appointed private secretary and A.D.C. to the Governor of Sierra Leone in 1908 , and has had almost continuous service in diplomatic and other positions abroad. He served during the war, principally with the Navy, and held tho rank of LieutenantCommander and Acting-Commander, It.N.V.R. in 1914-15 he was attached to the staffs of Admirals Wemyss and Christian at the Dardanelles. He was decorated with the Italian medal for military bravery. He has travelled extensively in the East, and lias published several works based on material gathered during his travels. The first of 'note was “The Fringe of the East.” published in 1913. Since the war “Cyprus Under the Turks,” “Mosul and the Minorities,” “Prophets, Priests, and Patriarchs” and other volumes have appeared.
