WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.
THE ASHBURTON DISTRICT, The monthly meeting of the Ashburton District Women’s Institute was held recently. Airs .1). A. A 1 organ presiding over a very large attendance. The motto was: “Do as much good as you can and never mind who gets the credit.” A motion of sympathy was passed with Alesdam-es Shearer and Stewart in their recent bereavements. One new member was enrolled. Airs S. Curd moved a vote ol thanks to Mrs H. Amos for making the Institute wreath lor Anzae Day. Alias R. Riobins gave an interesting and educational demonstration on “Nature's Laxative. Airs 1* hitman proposed, a vote of thanks to Alias Robins. The hostesses were Alesdamos L. Aitken. 1. Baigent, W. Barrett. E. Raker, Cl. Breeze, AfeLean, and D. Smith, and Aliases Boniuugton and R. Curd. The competitions wore won as iollmvs: —Bloom, Airs H. Eiatman .1 ; truss of flowers, Airs E. A. Amos 1 ; child’s school lunch, Airs (1. Breeze 1, Airs Hines 2.
The flowers were judged by Mesclsvmes Cockroft and Tucker, and the lunch by Aliss R. Robins.
