WITNESSED BY WHITE WOMAN. LONDON, ALiy 9. A Sydney undergraduate, Aliss Phyllis Kaberry, who was born in America, has come to London, says the * ‘NewsChronicle” after spending 18 months in the Australian bush, where, she says, sbo witnessed natives’ secret ceremonies. Aliss Ka berry says the men’s corroborees are more elaborate than the women’s but the latter are much more secret, involving spells and songs unknown to male aborigines. The visitor, who, apparently, has studied totemism and bone-pointing, and native mythology, hopes to qualify for the Doctorate of Philosophy at the London School of Economics.
