GERALDINE BURGLARY
TRUCK AND GOODS STOLEN.
PETROL TAKEN FROM BOWSER. (Special to tho “Guardian.”) TIMARU, This Day. A recent model half-toil truck and £SO worth of ironmongery and goods were stolen from the Canterbury Farmers’ Co-operative Association’s premises in Peel Street, Geraldine, between 9 a.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. on Saturday. A bowser was also forced in order to obtain petrol before the departure of the burglar or burglars in the stolen truck. Entry was gained to the premises by forcing a window in the saddlery department, giving admission to the ironmongery and grocery departments. A large fireproof steel door between these departments and tlie drapery departments prevented entry to the main offfee. The sum of £1 4s (id was removed from a till in the grocery department. A vacuum cleaner, clock, and various items of ironmongery were among, the goods stolen. The thieves also helped themselves to a supply of cigarettes. The premises are fitted with an electric burglar alarm, but owing, to frequent false alarms caused by birds setting the alarm working the apparatus had been disconnected. •
The registered number of the missing truck is L 22849, and the vehicle is a cream colour with “The farmers painted in red on each door.
