BIBLE CLASS CAMP

PRESBYTERIANS AT TINWALD.

ACTIVITIES DURING WEEK-END.

The Presbyterian Bible Class camp at Tinwakl. which opened on Thursday evening, was continued over the weekend.

The campers were divided into Bible study circles, the study-book. ‘‘Saviour and Lord,” which was written for the use of Easter camps by Rev. J. J. Murray, of Ivelhurn, W ellington, proving helpful and stimulating. 'The studycircle leaders were, for the women: Mrs R. S. Watson and Misses Mary Ashford and Margery Lee; for the men: Messrs Alan Frampton, John Johnson and Keith Oliver. The young men’s classes held a combined study on Sunday afternoon, under the leadership of Mr L. J. Houstoii. The sports were held on Saturday afternoon, the Morgan Shield being retained by the St. Andrew’s (Ashburton) senior class. On Saturday evening a concert was hold in the Central Hall, the programme being as follows :— Miss Mavis iShaw (solo); Rakaia Bible Class (sketch); Alan Frampton (solo); Rev. and -Mrs Bibbv (duet); Gordon Harwood (violin); Charles Goodfellow (recitation) ; S. P. Taylor and Co. (sketch, photography); Keith Oliver (mouthorgan solo); Jack Johnston; Allenton Bible Class (sketch); Messrs D. Ross H. Shaw and C. (acrobatics); Ashburton South Presbyterian Dramatic Society; S. P. Taylor; and campers themselves.

The morning meetings on Friday and Saturday were conducted by the Rev. R. S. Watson, who spoke on the themes, “Jesus Christ as Saviour,” and “Jesus Christ as Lord.” The speaker yesterday morning was the Rev. F. E. H. Paton, of Christchurch, who also conducted both services on Saturday in the Central Hall, and the closing addresses were given last evening in the women’s camp by Miss H. M. Arnold, of Lagmlior, and in the men’s camp by the Rev. D. D. MacLachlan. In the women’s camp the closing scenes of'the play, “For the Great Possessions,” were read, under the direction of Mrs L. A . Bibby. A short pageant entitled “Dedication,” which was written for the dosing night of Faster camps, and which is being produced by Miss L. Tucker and performed by some of the campers, will conclude the programme to-day. A bookstall, stocked with appropriate literature, in charge of Mr K. Oliver, has done good business throughout the camps.
