WANGANUI, This Day
Fireman John Ching, a single man, aged 23, was admitted to hospital suffering from injuries to his eyes while attending a fire this morning at the residence of Mr J. J. Meuli, Carlton Terrace.
Fireman Gordon Campbell, a married man, aged 32, was injured in the face, but after treatment at the hospital returned to quarters at the central station.
A glass jar in a washhouse, containing some benzine, exploded, Fireman Ching, who was working on a branch with Fireman Campbell, getting the full force in the face.
