THE WEATHER.
CONDITIONS IMPROVE TO-DAY.
An improvement was shown in the weather in Ashburton to-day. After a cold, clear night, the sky became overcast early this morning. The temperature was mild and there was a light northerly wind. The maximum temperature yesterday was 61.5 degrees and the inside minimum last night 40.2 degrees. The grass minimum temperature of 34.9 degrees was near freezing point. The barometer at 9 o’clock this morning stood at 29.80 inches, compared with 29.92 inches yesterday morning.
TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather-: General inference: The disturbance recently experienced is passing away eastward and although still rather low to the north-east, pressure has risen considerably over the Dominion with the advance of an anti-cyclone across the Tasman Sea. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Uamaru is as follows :
Light to moderate southerly winds, later becoming variable. Weather fair to fine, with cool but rising temperatures. Seas slight to moderate.
