SUM TO QUALIFY FOR GRANT.
ADVANCE ASSOCIATION’S APPEAL. OVER £2O IS STILL REQUIRED The AdA-ance Ashburton Association has still to raise £2l 4s by voluntary contributions by the end of January in order to qualify for the additional grant of £ls by the Ashburton Trotting Club. After making its original grant the Trotting Club stipulated that if the Association could raise the grant of £lO to £BS it Avould give another £ls.
The association has raised £63 16s to date, and Avill gratefully receive any further donations, Avhich must be in by the end of January in order that the additional grant may be obtained. It is probable that an appeal of some nature Avill be made by members of the association in the near future. Since the amount of £35 13s, which Avas previously aeknoAvledged, tile folloAving donations ha\ r e been received:— J. R. McKenzie and Co., Ltd., £lO 10s; Ashburton Agricultural and Pastoral Association, £10; W. H. Collins and Co., £2; Messrs H. Smallbone, E. H. Orr, and R. Kennedy, £1 Is each; Messrs W. B. W. Bell and R. L. Stephenson, £1 each; Mr E. Buchanan, 10s. '
