THE WEATHER.
WARM, SUNNY CONDITIONSWarm, sunny weather was experienced in Ashburton to-day. The sky was cloudless, and there was a northeasterly breeze. After unsettled conditions yesterday rain fell heavily for a time in the evening, the fall amounting to 18 points. There were two frosts in the weekend, of 4.7 degrees this morning and 2.7 degrees yesterday morning. Maximum temperatures were 57.1 degrees yesterday and 59.1 degrees on Saturday. Barometric pressure at 9 o’clock this morning stood at 29.2<> inches, a . rise from 28.92 inches yesterday morning. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather : General inference: A deep depression crossed the Dominion yesterday, but a secondary is advancing on to the southern portion of the South Island. The forecast for the east, coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows:
Moderate to strong westerly winds, backing again to southerly. Weather changeable and squally, and later becoming cold anti showery, with hail in places and snow on ranges. Seas rough.
