PERSONAL.
Mr Justice Northcroft passed through Ashburton on the south-bound express this morning.
Mr W. J. Minogue (deputy Postmaster at Christchurch and formerly Postmaster at Ashburton) visited here on Saturday.
Miss Jean Macdonald and Miss Ethel Sparrow, of Ashburton, left this morning for Wellington to join the Awatea for Sydney. Miss Macdonald intends to continue her studies in hairdressing there.
The Rev. R. S. Watson, of Ashburton, conducted the services at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Timaru, yesterday. * The Rev. F. H. Wilkinson, of Timaru, took the services at St. Andrew’s Church.
The condition of Archdeacon A. JPetrie, who has been ill for over a week, was reported to-day to be improving although he is still confined to his bed. The morning service at St. Stephen’s Church yesterday was taken by the Rev. H. S. Hamilton, of Metliven, and the evening service by Mr R. H. Riggar.
