THE RESERVE BANK. THE WEEKLY STATEMENT. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, February 25. A Gazette issued to-night contains the following statement of the assets and liabilities of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand as at the close of business on February 22: LIABILITIES—

GRAIN AND PRODUCE.

CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS. CHRISTCHURCH, February 25. New season’s grain came in steadily during the earlier part of this week, but to-day’s rainfall, which appears to be general over the province, will put a further stop to harvesting not only of wheat but of many other crops. The quantity of cocksfoot offering from the Peninsula has increased and oats also are coming in well. The following are quotations to farmers on trucks at country stations, sacks extra unless otherwise stated:— Fowl Wheat—G.W.F., 4s lid; undergrade, 4s 8d to 4s lOd (according to quality). Oats—Gartons, 2s 9d to 3s; Algerians, 2s 5d to 2s 8d; Duns, 2s 9d to 3s 3d (according to quality). Cocksfoot—6d to 9d (according to quality). Ryegrass—2s 3d to 2s 9d (according to quality); Italian, 2s to 2s 6d. White Clover—6d to 7d.

Cowgrass—6d to 7d. Partridge Peas—4s 6d. Flour—£l3 15s 6d, in 2001 b sacks. Bran—£4 15s to £5 5s (local price). Pollard—£6 ss> £6 15s (local price). Potatoes—£3 to £3 5s a ton (prompt delivery). Onions—£7 10s a ton (prompt delivery).

THE SYDNEY MARKET. SYDNEY, February 25. The wheat market is firm. Bagged grain is quoted at 5s 2d, - and bulk wheat in the country at 4s sd, which is equal to about ss, ex trucks, Sydney. Flour—£l2 15s. Bran —£5 10s. Pollard—£6. Potatoes —Tasmanian, £7 10s; Victorian, £6 10s. Onions Victorian globes, £l2; white, £lO. Maize —Yellow, 5s 6d.

SYDNEY WOOL SALES. KEEN DEMAND FOR, CHOICE FINE SYDNEY, February 25. At the Sydney wool sales 12,165 bales were offered and 11,420 sold, 1085 being disposed of privately. A feature to-day was the keen demand for choice fine wools. Yorkshire buyers were the largest operators. Greasy merino made 333 d. The market ruled at the best point of the week. THE SHARE MARKET.
