Mr S. Madden, who has been on a vacation to the West Coast, returned to Ashburton last evening.

Mr T. F. Healey (manager of the Majestic Theatre), who has been on holiday, has returned to Ashburton.

Mr Geoffrey Bentley, of the staff of the “Southland Times” and formerly of Ashburton, was a visitor to this town to-day.

A cablegram from Sydney states that the Rev. Dr. J. Dickie, of Dunedin, who is returning from a trip to Europe, will sail by the Awatea to-morrow.
