INCIDENT IN ASHBURTON. UMPIRE’S DECISION OPPOSED. The Fairfield team, at the request of their captain, R. Brennan, walked off the field when playing on the Technical grounds against Technical this afternoon. It is stated that Brennan was batting in partnership with T. Lawler, who was taking the bowling from E. iStigley, when a ball was bowled and went beyond the wicket-keeper to Cowans, who returned it to the bowler. Drennan was said to luwe been out of his creasS at the time, and he was run out. The umpire gave him out, and after consulting his team, Drennan called his players off the field.
