YACHT’S LONG VOYAGE
FROM TAHITI TO AUCKLAND. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Nov. 8. After sailing from Tahiti in the 27ft. yacht Farys, a young Pole, Mr Edwin J. Weber, stepped ashore at Auckland on Saturday. Thet vessel is ijrobably the smallest and lightest ever to put into Auckland from an overseas port, and strangely enough is built of New Zealand kauri. The voyage from Tahiti was commenced at the end of February, and was made by way of Rarotongo, Palmerston Island, Pago Pago, and Suva, but only 58 days were spent at sea. Only three spells of bad weather were met on the whole trip. ' For two days the Farys was hove-to, with a sea-anclior out, when between Rarotonga and Palmerston Island, and she was hove-to again for a shorter period when about a week out from .Suva. On that occasion the staysail was blown away, and the mainsail was badly torn. From Tahiti to Palmerston Island Mr Weber sailed the littel boat singlehanded, but there lie was joined by one of the islanders, Jimmy Masters, who has continued with him to Auckland.
