Miss Sybil Phillips, of Auckland, who won two soprano championships at the recent Eisteddfod, is playing the part of the heroine, Manenka, in the Conseryatorium’s pi’oduction of Smetana’s “The Bartered Bride,” directed 1 by Roland Foster, who recently visited New Zealand.

The “Daily Telegraph” says that Miss Phillips sang with a fresh young voice that was at all times pleasing. The “Sydney Morning Herald’’ says that Miss Phillips Iras a fluent style and good enunciation.
