LODGE MEETING.
ASHBURTON DRUIDS. The fortnightly meeting of the Star of Ashburton Lodge, U.A.OJD., was held last evening, the A.D. (Bro., A. G. Vincent) presiding. The Bards reported on visits to sick members, and sick pay was passed. Bro. E. Parkin reported on the quarterly meeting of the United Friendly Societies Association. Correspondence was received from the Grand Secretary advising that the maternity grant had been restored to £6. The matter of a clearance from a member belonging to another jurisdiction was left to the secretary to placo before the Board of Management. One candidate was proposed, and two were initiated. An invitation to attend a dance next Monday was received from the Success of Ashburton Lodge, and was accepted. A funeral allowance and a maternity claim were passed for payment. It was decided to arrange the next meeting of the Royal Arch Chapter for September 21. At the close of the lodge meeting cards were played and supper was handed round.
COURT ASHBURTON, A.O.F. Court Ashburton, A.0.F., met last evening, the Chief Ranger (Bro. C. L Olds) presiding over a large attendance. A motion of sympathy was passed with the relatives of the late Bro. S. Wilson in their recent bereavement The Chief Ranger extended a welcome to the district officers and also to the district ritual supervisor, who was visiting the Court for the purpose of judging the ritual competition. Sick pay amounting to £l6 Ss 4d was passed in favour of 10 members. Complimentary tickets were receive 1 from Court Pride of Courtney for its diamond jubilee bani]uot and ball at Jvirwee on September 11. One candidate was initiated into the order and three proposed for membership.
