OBITUARY.
MRS H. C. SEGERS. The death of Mrs Louisa Margaret Sogers, wife of Mr H. C. Segers, occurred at her residence, 9 West Street,_ Ashburton, yesterday. Mrs Segers v as in her 77th year. Born at Christchurch, Mrs Segers came to Ashburton 56 years ago, shortly after her marriage, and she took an active part in the building up of her husband’s drapery business, which is one of the best known business houses in Ashburton, and was started in 1883. She retained her partnership in the company till her death. Mrs Segers was of a somewhat retiring disposition, and did not take up membership of local organisations. She visited the old men’s home every Sunday, and took a keen interest in the welfare of the inmates. She was an enthusiastic member of the Brethren. She conducted a boys’ class at St. Stephen’s Sunday School some years ago. Mrs Segers is survived by her husband, three sons (Messrs M. C. Segers, H. M. Segers, and C. H. Segers, all of Ashburton), and three daughters (Mesdames C. S. Lucas, of Stratford, H. G. Robinson, of Milton, and S. J. Thomas, of Ashburton, eight grandchildren, and ono great grandchild.
