TWO YOUNG MEN CONVICTED. (.Per 1 ress Association.) AUCKLAND, September 3. Wong Hum gave evidence, turougu an interpreter, unit ne was a. paKapoo agent, lhe two accused came into ms suop one aitenioon anu adopted a menacing attitude, wnson opened a drawer in which was money, and wnen tne witness called -put to anotnr 'Chinese upstairs, tne accused left tne shop witu ms companion. W ong Hum pursued them along the street. Tne two accused turned oacK and W'iison hit Wong on the head. The second Chinese was also assaulted. Wilson gave evidence denying that he struck tho Chinese. On the further charge of the theft of £3 4s, belonging to Mrs Bigvvood, a restaurant keeper, tne police said that accused, asked a chemist for work and tne cnennst took tnem to a restaurant and paid for meals tor them. While Mrs Bigwood was preparing the meal, tne men robbed tne till and left witnout having a meal. On the major cnarge of theft both men were sentenced to three montns' imprisonment. Un the remaining charges they were convicted and disco arged.
