FOOTBALL.

THE ASSOCIATION CODE. ENGLISH CUP MATCH. The first round and two games of the second round of the English Cup knock-out tournament were played in Christchurch last Saturday, with the result that there now remain six teams, Western A, Rangers, Linwood, Ashburton, Nomads and Thistle. Two games still remain to be played in the second round, Western A v. Rangers, and Ashburton v. Linwood. The Ashburton Club has been granted their game to be played at Ashburton on September 12. It will be interesting to see how they will fare in the competition. Ashburton has a strong team and should prove quite equal to any team in Christchurch.
