The arrangements for the visit of an English Association football team to New Zealand next year were advanced a stage to-night by a decision of the council of the New Zealand Football Association to negotiate with Australia to take part of the tour. A cable message was read- from the Football Association, London, agreeing to visit New Zealand in 1937. Provisional arrangements had been made, the message stated, to leave on the Chitral on April 20. The council adopted the finance committee’s recommendation to send a cable message to the Australian Association, which is understood to be anxious to take four weeks of a nine weeks’ tour. The cost to Australia would be £1520.

Mr Malcolm Fraser’s resignation from the council because of the pressure of other activities was accepted with regret. Canterbury was granted permission to play Otago at Dunedin on Saturday for the Football Association trophy.
