DREDGE CANTS OVER.

AN ACCIDENT AT RIMU. BOW IN 15 FEET O FVVATER. (Per Press Association.) HOKITIKA, This Day. The Rimu dredge, while engaged in dredging this morning, suddenly canted over on its port side and the look sank in 15 feet of water. The whole dredge canted, but the stern continued afloat. The cause of the mishap is considered to be the breaking away of the 'water ballast bulkhead in the stern, flooding one of the midship compartments on the port side, thereby overloading that side and causing the dredge to tip over. It is expected that repairs will be effected within 10 days, to enable dre‘dging to be resumed. The dredge is covered by insurance against sinking. This is the first mishap of a serious nature in the course of five years’ dredg111g.

The Rimu dredge is said to be the largest in Australia. and New Zealand.
