ASHBURTON AS SUB-UNION.

A PROPOSAL AT RAKAIA. Mr R. Breach presided at a general meeting of the Rakaia Football Club. After a lengthy discussion, a notice of motion was given that the Ashburton Rugby Union revert to a subunion. The Minister for Internal Affairs wrote granting the club permission to run an art union. Advice was received from the Ashburton Rugby Union that Mr R. Tatterson had been appointed: official weigher for Rakaia. Messrs L. L. Street, R. Breach, and 'Hi. Evans were appointed 1 to meet the headmasters of primary schools in the district, to make arrangements for the primary schools’ seven-a-side tournament, to be held soon. The following dance committee was elected to make the arrangements for the annual closing ball:—Messrs L. L. Street, R. Breach, S. Pluck, R. Tatterson, A. Mead, R. Douglas, and T. S. Shannon. THE INTER-ISLAND MATCH. PALMERSTON N., July 29. The Manawatu nominations for the North Island Rugby team are as follow: R. McKenzie, L. Findlay (forwards) ; Brinsden (half) ; Waugh (wing-three-quarters) ; Thurston (five-eighths). WESTPORT, July 29. G. Orman, S. Stewart and A. D. THE ASSOCIATION GAME. AUSTRALIAN UNBEATABLE. RECORD. MASTERTON, July 29. The Australian Association football team maintained its unbeaten record this afternoon, when in the final game of the tour it outclassed Wairarapa to win by 13 goals to 2. In spite of the heavy ground and the superiority of the visitors, the game was fast, bright and interesting. The visitors’ total score on the tour is 100.
