WRESTLING.

BLOMFIELD BEATS RUSSELL. CHRISTCHURCH, July 29. By incapacitating him with an octopus clamp in the seventh round, Blomfield beat Russell in a wrestling contest to-night. The bout was full of spectacular jolting and dumping, both being thrown from' the ring. The opening was sensational, Russell pinning Blomfield after 40 seconds, the first pin following elbow jolts and two dumps. Blomfield twice failed to perfect the actopus clamp when he had it partly developed, but Russell soon submitted when it was applied properly and was unable to come from his corner at the opening of the last round.
