CRICKET.

ENGLISH TOUR OF AUSTRALIA.

BOWLING WEAKNESS DISCUSSED

(United Press Association—Copyright.) LONDON, July 29. The Lancashire Cricket Club has granted Captain R. Howard (its secretary) permission to accept the managership of the Marylqbone Cricket Club team to visit Australia. England’s bowling weaknesses against India prompt renewed and anxious discussions on the prospects against Australia. The cricket writer of the ‘ ‘Daily Mail” says: “Somewhere, somehow, we must find more hostile bowling for Australia. Names springing to mind include Copson, Nichols, Fames, Stephenson, Voce, Larwood, and Bowes must also be considered.” The “Daily Mail,” in a leader, says: “Our bowling strength is not good enough to prevent India making a record score. Meanwhile Larwood and Voce were winning . for Notts against Derby. Larwood is undoubtedly the country’s best speed bowler.”
