PROPOSAL FAVOURED.
DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL. MEETING AT LOWCLIFFE. The proposal to establish a district high school at Eiffeltcrn was favoured by many speakers at a meeting of householders in the Lowcliffe and Coldstream districts held at Lowcliffe on Monday evening. ,It was decided to invite the Eiffeltcn, Willo-wby, Lynnford, Ele-mi‘ngtom, and Lowclifl'e School Committees to a‘ conference at Eiffelton at the end of the month to discuss the proposal further. Mr 4G. Tait (chairman of the Lowclifi'e School Committee) presided over an attendance of about 40.
Mr Stanley Smith, of Me-thven, a member of the Canterbury Education Board, addressed the meeting, saying that, in his opinion, the move was a good (me. Mr H. 0. Patterson (chairman of the Eiffelton School Committee) supported the proposal, saying that many children in the districts were deprived of {L secondary education because of the Lack of convenient travelling facilities to Ashburt-on and further, that it was too far to travel‘ to that centre.
